Our community extends far beyond the classroom. Although small, Andale School has a big community spirit, with many generous and compassionate people at its heart.

The Uniting Church

Since Andale’s inception in 1987, the Uniting Church has generously supported Andale. For over 20 years, the Church has leased us the beautiful school grounds in Kew, allowing the school to grow and prosper.

Last year, the Andale Community supported the Boroondara Community Outreach Program with donations for starter packs for vulnerable locals in new accommodation.

Xavier College and Ruyton School

As part of their Ignatian Service, students from Xavier College visit Andale to provide after-school activities. The Andale students love to spend time with the Xavier boys and we value Xavier College’s ongoing community service and commitment.

A highlight on the school calendar is Xavier Week. Year 11 Xavier College students and their teachers organise a week of fun activities for our students. Each Andale student is assigned a Xavier student as their buddy for the week. In past years, activities have included Lego building, woodwork, sports, surfing, Puffing Billy, and swimming. The Xavier buddies are attentive and enthusiastic, and the Xavier College staff ensure activities are well organised and appropriate.

We value our continued connection with Ruyton School. Last year was extra special, as the Ruyton students donated money they had raised for their end-of year fundraising event to Andale. With this generous donation, Andale purchased outdoor play equipment for our students to enjoy. Other past activities with Ruyton include a special invitation for Andale students to attend a performance of Seussical the Musical.

Andale Ball

With the theme of Celebration – Awareness – Giving, the inaugural Andale Ball held at Fenix in November 2019, was a wonderful celebration of our children, staff, and school.

Over 220 guests, including parents, friends, alumni, and business sponsors, enjoyed an amazing evening. There were lots of smiles, laughs, and dancing as we enjoyed great food, compelling speakers, and entertaining auctions. An incredible sum was raised thanks to the generous support of our guests, our event sponsors, and community donations. The Ball was a massive undertaking for our small community and would not have been possible without the passion and dedication of the many individuals and local businesses.

Andale School understands the importance of working with families to support our students’ learning and wellbeing. Our school holds regular events for the school community, including Student Support Group meetings, family events and celebrations.

Andale organises school barbeques each year, providing an opportunity for families and staff to come together and celebrate our amazing school.

Local Schools Community Fund Project

In 2019-20, the Local Schools Community Fund provided funding to schools around Australia for small-scale projects. Josh Frydenberg, Federal Member for Kooyong and Treasurer for Australia, informed Andale School in December 2019, that our project application was successful. Financial assistance of $13,000 was provided by the Australian Government to Andale to replace computers in our junior and senior classrooms.
